Urethane Casting Process
The process begins with a pattern. Typically the pattern is a Stereo Lithography
but can also be any physical part. The master is staged and encapsulated
in a RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanization) rubber. After the rubber cures,
the master is removed and you are left with a RTV mold. The mold is placed
under vacuum and is filled with a two-part urethane. Once the urethane
has hardened, it is removed and the mold can be used to cast additional
parts.
