Harsh Environment Applied Technologies Incorporated
was created in 1997 in Virginia and is now located in LaPlata and
White Plains, Maryland.
We design and manufacture advanced digital imaging equipment for
military, industrial inspection and machine vision applications.
Unlike many companies that develop software or hardware H.E.A.T.
develops and manufactures highly integrated systems requiring multi-disciplined
engineering solutions.

Our expertise is focused on systems that have small to
medium production runs. However we recognize the necessary development
of prototypes and proof of concept systems as a necessary path to reach
production. Fast cost effective prototyping is one of our signature abilities
H.E.A.T. is a professional woman owned small business
and often teams with other companies for larger complex programs and SBIR,
STTR research opportunities.
Experience, Personnel and Facilities.
We have extensive experience in the field of digital imaging and specialize
in extreme performance in terms of resolution to 12500 X 8500 pixels,
speed to 1 million frames per second, exposures to 500 picoseconds, acquisition
rates to 1GByte per second, image size to 750Mbytes per frame and electro
magnetic spectrum from Ultraviolet to Long Wave Infrared.
Internet, Intranet and Remote conferencing facilities
These are used with great effect on a daily basis between H.E.A.T. management
and technical personnel and our contractors and customers, and provide
immediate access to appropriate information and project data.
Training Facilities - Internet courses - seminars - e-manuals
Field Applications Engineering - To support all H.E.A.T. technologies
and projects.
The H.E.A.T. engineering team focuses on:
> research
> concept development
> value added engineering
> OEM Production
The company is split into two divisions, Commercial and Military.
Military Mission Statement "Let
our enemies fear the shadows"
To provide exceptional performance dual and triple band fusion system
for armored and man portable applications that will maintain and extend
the capabilities of the United States military to protect its servicemen
and women and overcome, with massive technical superiority, the enemies
of the United States of America on land, sea and air.
Commercial Mission Statement "Service
First"
To design, prototype, develop and manufacture advanced digital imaging
systems for specific imaging applications. We undertake to provide polite,
responsive and effective service to meet our customers' needs.
H.E.A.T. Military Products
H.E.A.T. produces single, dual and triple band products for the United
States Military. These fall into five categories.
FusionWarrior: A dual waveband helmet or head mounted body
worn electronic Digital Fusion Goggle with Long wave Infrared and Gated
Intensified I2 system for day and night vision operation.
ArmorVisio: A triple waveband transparent armor system for
Future Combat Systems.
MarineDefender: An automated dual waveband target detection
identification and tracking system for harbor perimeter defense of vessels.
It is specifically designed to protect vessels in port against attack
from small high-speed craft.
Rapier: An unmanned steerable field surveillance system with
dual waveband fusion core ERLF, fire control data interface.
Vixen: A series of systems for single dual and triple band remote
and telerobotic imaging devices.
ImageVortex: A family of multi-waveband fusion engines
EO Wavebands
H.E.A.T. is the only company in the World to build systems in UV/VIS/NIRI2/SWIR/MWIR/LWIR
wavebands for both armored and body worn applications. Additionally FusionWarrior
systems interconnect to FBCB2 tactical internet and FCS variants to bring
true network centric situational awareness to the Warfighter.
H.E.A.T. Comercial Products
Electro-optical Gimbal Systems Capabilities Expansion
The addition of stabilized, multi-spectral imaging systems including image
fusion with precision optics providing high-performance visual imaging
from manned and unmanned aircraft, ships and land based mobile platforms.
H.E.A.T. has manufacturer certified service personnel for work on L3 Wescam
Gimbal systems.
Thermographic Line Scan Inspection systems
A rapid, continuous non-destructive inspection system for detection of
material thickness and faults in metals and exotic composite materials.
Digital Lens Controllers
Allowing automated control of Aperture, Focus and Zoom on a wide range
of motorized lenses with and without preset potentiometers.
For use in Medical, Machine vision and any situation where more control
than a security CCTV control system can offer.
